Amarillo College Supplemental Instructor - Diesel in Amarillo, Texas

This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Part-Time Supplemental Instructor for Diesel who will be all-in on our mission and who will perform duties primarily related to the instruction of courses in assigned subject matter areas. Leveraging a strong background in the heavy equipment repair industry, this instructor brings real-world insights to the classroom. Proficient in teaching hydraulics, electronic controls, and engines.

Requirements

EDUCATION

Required: High School Diploma or GED

Preferred: Associate Degree in Diesel Technology or related field.

EXPERIENCE

Required: Five (5) years of experience in heavy equipment.

Preferred: Previous teaching experience.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide supplemental classroom instruction for applicable programs.

  • Perform effective teaching activities, directing projects, and assisting with student coursework, research, and internships.

  • Plan, develop, and present organized instructions and learning opportunities for students in accordance with approved course outlines.

  • Attend briefings on procedures, advising, registration, and general policy.

  • Complete appropriate administrative paperwork and performance evaluations promptly.

  • Participate in department, division and college meetings as assigned or required.

  • Assume responsibility for the orderliness of the learning environment and in the appropriate and safe use of instructional facilities and equipment.

  • Participate in and complete performance assessments/evaluations as assigned.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the subject matter and related topics within the field.

  • Ability to work with and motivate students.

  • Ability to maintain an established schedule, including evenings and multiple campus locations.

Salary: Amarillo College - Salary Schedules (actx.edu) (https://www.actx.edu/hr/salary-schedules) , Pay grade 10 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.

Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)

Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
