This internship will begin in January 2025.

Project Description:

• Work with the Engineering staff to support testing and commissioning of substation additions and/or modifications related to both capital projects and operations/maintenance. Work as an intern doing tasks spanning all aspects of power system protection and control including protection system modeling, short circuit studies, and various analytical tasks to support regulatory compliance requirements. Through practical field experience and mentoring, successful candidate will gain significant knowledge, professional confidence, and people skills.

• This will be a yearlong opportunity with the potential to extend. The candidate should be able to work 30 hours a week during the summer and 10-20 hours/week during the school semester.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be enrolled in an ABET accredited Electrical or Power Systems Engineering program.

• Ability to communicate effectively; both written and verbally.

• Must be self- motivated and can work well with others.

• Must be within commuting distance of work location year-round.

• Able to work part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer.

• Able to commit to the internship for a year or longer.

• Willingness to work in field and in office.

Preferred:

• Coursework in Power Systems (as well as interest in the field)

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

• Computer Programming skills

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $20.70 per hour

This position is eligible for the following benefits: Pension, 401(k) plan, Paid time off (PTO), Holidays
