Amarillo College High School Equivalency (HSE) Coordinator in Amarillo, Texas

This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Full-Time High School Equivalency (HSE) for our AEL Department who will be all-in on our mission and who will maintain the integrity of the Adult Education & Literacy (AEL) and Workforce Opportunity and Innovation Act (WIOA) Program. The HSE Coordinator has three core functions to administrate the HSE program: (1). Supervision, (2). Program Evaluation & Analysis, and (3). Create and Maintain Partnerships to grow the HSE Program. The coordinator will promote community completion of the GED, enrollment into Amarillo College, and increase workforce outcomes and employment connections with individuals in the labor market.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree

EXPERIENCE:

  • Required: Two (2) years in a leadership or supervisory role and curriculum development or teaching experience.

  • Preferred: Six months experience working with Federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) programs, specifically Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) Title II federal law in the United States or other related WIOA Title funding, i.e., Title I: Adult, Dislocated Worker, and Youth Activities, Title III: Wagner-Peyser Act Employment Services, or Title IV: Vocational Rehabilitation Services.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Assist the director in such duties deemed necessary in attaining the established WIOA program goals and grant targets, including but not limited to completing daily programmatic needs and administrative requests (e.g., grant performance, scheduling, interviewing, training).

  • Lead and ensure all Workforce Opportunity and Innovation Act (WIOA) performance requirements are learned and implemented to ensure annual Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) grantee performance.

  • Coordinate program activities with other program staff to promote the most effective instructional program goals (e.g., curricula building, assisting in the hiring process).

  • Assist in resolving student registration/placement issues.

  • Prepare and present supplemental workshops for HSE instructors.

  • Evaluate curriculum quarterly based on data outcomes.

  • Serve as an advisor and advocate to move HSE students into Amarillo College transition career pathways.

  • Manage budget for the HSE program staffing.

  • Establish and maintain community partnerships with faith-based organizations, ISDs, and educational service centers.

  • Recruit HSE students across the Amarillo College service area.

  • Facilitate CASAS test administration.

  • Develop and manage the HSE Distance learning program.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of CASAS reports and systems.

  • Ability to work independently as well as with team members.

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and work with minimal supervision.

  • Skilled to be a self-starter to complete tasks properly and completely with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to embrace and show sensitivity toward cross-cultural differences.

  • Ability to maintain composure and perform effectively under stress and/or opposition (e.g., tight deadlines, unscheduled disruptions or delays, interpersonal conflicts).

  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.

  • Ability to motivate and supervise others.

  • Skilled in Microsoft Suite, Outlook, and Google Suite.

  • Ability to organize data to produce student reports.

Salary: Amarillo College - Salary Schedules (actx.edu) (https://www.actx.edu/hr/salary-schedules) , Pay grade 13 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.

Work Environment: This position operates in a professional environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications.
