JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor or Professor of Practice in Rail Transportation Engineering

The Pennsylvania State University and the Altoona College invite applications for a Teaching Faculty appointment in Rail Transportation Engineering (RTE), to begin in Fall 2024. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in support of the Rail Transportation Engineering program; advise and mentor undergraduate students; participate in all aspects of the program’s activities; and serve the profession. The position will be filled at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Teaching Professor or Professor of Practice depending on education and experience. The position is for a one year appointment with excellent possibility for renewal.

Candidates must have a graduate degree in engineering, engineering technology or a closely related field by time of the appointment start date, or a Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the rail industry. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to undergraduate education, curricular development and assessment. Teaching and/or industrial experience in the railroad and/or transportation engineering is preferred.
