What is it that we do at Colonial Pipeline Company?

Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. Colonial transports various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, jet fuel, and fuels for the U.S. military through a pipeline system. Colonial transports approximately 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans.

About the Manager, Asset Data Management Position

As the Manager, Asset Data Management you are responsible for providing data and document management services for Colonial Pipeline, including the development, implementation and improvement of processes and procedures for collecting and managing asset and integrity management program data, GIS applications, webmaps, dashboards and data standards. The Manager, Asset Data Management will support continuous improvement of risk analyses and assessments related to the company’s integrity management program. In this position you will also possess knowledge in the design and management of relative databases (SQL, PostgreSQL), the practical management of structured and unstructured data, documents, work-flow processes, and the ability to transfer this knowledge to others. Additionally, this role will lead a staff of professional employees to accomplish team goals, manage individual performance mentor others, and advise leadership.

  • Utilize the requirements of Colonial’s Safety Program in performing work safely.

  • Develop, improve, and/or maintain standards, processes, and procedures for collecting, processing, and reporting data about the company’s assets as well as data used in its Integrity Management Program (IMP).

  • Oversee data systems that improve the efficiency of IMP processes and reporting to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Administer document management processes and procedures to ensure that as-built and other engineering documentation and drawings are retained and accessible.

  • Compile, prepare, and submit required data to the Engineering Data Management System.

  • Serve as a subject matter expertise in support of training others on the philosophies and application of Colonial’s processes, procedures, and practices relative to document management, risk assessment, and GIS applications.

  • Lead Engineering personnel through consensus building and influence management skills to affect continuous improvement.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Engineering degree or similar Technical degree from an accredited college or university; will consider a combination of education and/or experience.

  • Prior oil/ gas or utility/infrastructure industry experience.

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

  • Strong understanding of pipeline company operations, integrity management programs, assets, and maintenance activities.

  • Solid knowledge of data standards including the use of XML, JSON, and GeoJSON data formats and database technology.

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in the area GIS technology, Data Science, Data Architecture, or Data Analytics from an accredited college or university.

  • Ideally, 10+ years of experience in the oil/ gas industry and 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and managing GIS and other data systems.
