Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. Colonial transports various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, jet fuel, and fuels for the U.S. military through a pipeline system. Colonial transports approximately 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans.
About the Manager, Accounts Payable Position
The Manager, Accounts Payable is responsible for the tactical and strategic management of Colonial’s end-to-end accounts payable processes and related applications (roughly $3.5 billion of annual payments), ensuring the timely and accurate payment of invoices, day-to-day management of accounts payable staff, implementing KPI reporting and monitoring, and maintaining strong internal controls. The Manager, Accounts Payable will lead a multi-year initiative to transform and modernize our Source-to-Pay processes and technology. The position holder will work closely with both internal stakeholders and external vendors to resolve issues timely, ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures, and optimize cash management (early pay discounts, payment term optimization, etc.).
What You Get to Do:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable team and ensure efficient, accurate, and timely processes.
Prepare and submit daily payment file and coordinates with Treasury and Financial Reporting on the reconciliation and balancing of payments daily and at month-end.
Lead and develop a team of 8 Accounts Payable professionals to ensure quality output, timely payment of invoices, and adherence to Company payable-related policies and procedures.
Develop and grows the Accounts Payable Team, improve the design of processes that currently exist and automate aspects of the Accounts Payable overall process that are currently performed manually or with lesser automation.
Oversee vendor related tax compliance including sales and use tax compliance for roughly 50 jurisdictions as well as 1099/1042 compliance.
Lead the development and implementation of multi-year Source-to-Pay modernization initiatives, including optimizing and integrating all dependent Accounts Payable processes and applications.
Leverage spend and vendor payment data from Accounts Payable applications and internal tools to develop reports and KPIs to monitor compliance with vendor MSA as well as the operational performance of the team.
Partner with cross-functional groups to support cash management optimization initiatives.
What You Bring to the Table:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited college or university; will consider a combination of experience and/or education.
Ideally, 7+ years of progressive experience within payables/shared service functions.
Experience supervising others as well as leading process and technology improvement initiatives for a large company.
Familiarity with ERP and financial applications, data analytics tools and Microsoft Excel.
