Your role at Clorox:

As a Product Stewardship Manager, you will work within a team of product safety, chemical management, and regulatory professionals in R&D’s Global Stewardship (GS) department to build our Product Stewardship Strategy and deliver innovative stewardship programs globally. These programs will ensure the responsible and ethical management of our diverse portfolio of products throughout their lifecycle.

This is an individual contributor position reporting to the Global Stewardship Director.

This position can be remote or based in one of Clorox's main office locations (i.e. Pleasanton, CA; Durham, NC; Alpharetta, GA. Relocation assistance is available.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop Clorox product stewardship roadmap, including standards and processes and lead the implementation within the BU’s; lead and deliver stewardship training; build organizational knowledge and drive capability development.

  • Ensure the implementation of stewardship programs across our BU’s through strong working relationships with leaders in R&D, regulatory, manufacturing, commercial, government affairs and sustainability.

  • Foster relationships with external groups (governmental agencies, NGOs, industry groups) to stay abreast of best practices in the product stewardship area and thus develop solutions to present to regulatory agencies, driving excellence in Clorox stewardship programs.

  • Anticipate and communicate emerging regulations and requirements on raw materials and finished products, including chemicals of concern, and bring portfolio management recommendations. Inspire the team to work across complex and often ambiguous emerging regulatory frameworks that may impact product design or market access.

  • Lead advocacy efforts by representing the function/company at external forums with trade associations, government agencies and non-governmental organizations; assume leadership position in external forums, as appropriate.

  • Provide strategic guidance in all aspects of environmental fate and exposure for compliance and advocacy purposes; develop a horizon scanning program for chemicals of ecological concern.

  • Lead raw materials compliance program by executing Product Stewardship & Regulatory data management procedures and implementing data system updates. Manage raw material approvals through use of a recently implemented state of the art project lifecycle management tool (Engenuity).

  • Analyze chemical compliance customer needs, regulatory landscape and competitive environments and translate them into business strategies.

  • Lead Clorox Global Safety Data Sheet (SDS) program with a focus on identifying and implementing efficiency and accuracy processes, including oversight of SDS creation/revision, quality of SDS outputs, and tracking of regulatory changes that impact SDS creation.

  • Partner with GS Technical Director to deliver the company’s public Ingredient Management goals and commitments focusing on continuous improvement in the use of safer chemistries.

What we look for:

  • BS or MS degree in Chemistry, Toxicology, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field, with demonstrated science-driven thinking

  • 7+ years of relevant product stewardship or regulatory compliance / strategy experience with consumer products, antimicrobials, pesticides, traditionalinsecticides, crop or other regulated products.

  • Experience with hazard communication, e.g. Globally Harmonized System (GHS), US state level chemicals regulations programs, REACH, including regulatory processes such as restriction, authorization, risk management options analysis and product bans.

  • Track record of successful cross-functional collaboration across a wide variety of disciplines and backgrounds to build effective business relationships Having familiarity and experience interacting with external suppliers and fragrance house regulatory teams.

  • Strong customer focus, track record of developing executable strategies that align with business deliverables.

  • Knowledge of product development processes and experience providing product stewardship support in product development.

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to clearly and succinctly present critical information; strategic thinker with the ability to create unique program solutions and business-relevant recommendations; strong program management skills.

  • Ability to lead and influence stakeholders & build and maintain momentum; ability to effectively network internally and externally.

We use broad salary ranges that reflect the competitive market for similar jobs, provide sufficient opportunity for growth as you gain experience and expand responsibilities, while also allowing for differentiation based on performance. Based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at Clorox in the first half of the applicable range. Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience and location. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.

–Zone A: $121,900 - $240,100

–Zone B: $111,700 - $220,100

–Zone C: $101,600 - $200,100

This job is also eligible for participation in Clorox’s incentive plans, subject to the terms of the applicable plan documents and policies.
