Cost & Value Engineer

Cost and Value Engineering (CVE) contributes to increasing the competitiveness and profitability of our products and solutions by implementing the Cost and Value Engineering levers (Cost Analysis and Optimization, Design to Value, Modularization and Standardization, Supplier Productivity Improvements, Target Pricing/Target Costing, Sustainability Improvements, etc.) in collaboration with our partners from the product management, project management, research & development, procurement, quality assurance, and production functions.

You’ll make a difference by:

  • Leading cost benchmarking activities for competitor or supplier products or components in support of Siemens Business Units or Divisions. This role will include responsibility for the CVE Benchmarking Lab located in Alpharetta, GA. In particular, you will:

Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly facility

Acquire tools and instruments as needed

Develop, document, enforce and maintain lab procedures

  • Driving the strategic anchoring of the Cost and Value Engineering function in Siemens’ American business entities in a joint approach with the global Cross-Divisional Business Units.

  • Supporting American and Global Business Units with the management and implementation of Cost and Value Engineering projects to achieve tangible business impact.

  • Developing expertise, methods, tools, and training to facilitate knowledge building in our global expert network.

  • Performing bottom-up cost calculations to identify cost drivers in mechanical and electrical systems, subsystems, components, and services. Developing action plans to reduce product or service costs, improve customer value, and/or improve sustainability accordingly.

  • Supporting American and Global Business Units in the execution of environmental impact calculations using Siemens proprietary software .

  • Facilitating problem solving through analyzing data, providing transparency, and identifying optimization potentials for mechanical and electrical systems, subsystems, and components, as well as servicesand business processes.

  • Identifying upcoming design and sourcing opportunities for savings potentials.

  • Ensuring early involvement in product design, development and modification activities including digitalization opportunities.

  • Continuously ensuring the enhancement of processes, tools, resources, skills, and knowledge to expand the CVE network and capabilities throughout the Corporate, Cross-Division, and Cross-Functional interfaces.

  • Sharing and promoting across the CVE network within the Americas Region information about best practices, significant project results, key success factors, and lessons learned.

  • Communicating and ensuring adherence to corporate and Division policies and procedures.

  • Promoting positive change within the organization.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Technical degree from an accredited university required, preferably in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • 10 years of relevant experience in Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, Strategic Procurement, Global Supply Chain Management, Commodity Management, Design Engineering, R&D, or Production.

  • Experience in mechanical/electrical product development, systems engineering, or production engineering, preferably with high-volume manufacturing and/or electronic/PCBA manufacturing.

  • Proven project management and organizational skills, driving cross-functional teams to achieve results.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (15%).

  • Fluent in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Economics or Business Administration skills.

  • Experience within a large corporation.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and influencing at all organizational levels.

  • Awareness of sustainability impacts in product design, material selection, production processes, and manufacturing locations.

  • Track record of innovative process improvements.

  • Knowledge of cost-and-value architecture for components, subsystems, systems, and solutions.

  • Familiarity with raw materials, manufacturing technologies, and component markets in the Americas Region.

  • Team leadership skills and workshop facilitation experience.

  • Knowledge of cost accounting methodology.

  • Good working knowledge of statistical analysis.

  • Familiarity with CAD (NX), Mendix, and Siemens corporate procurement databases.

  • Knowledge of Siemens procurement systems, tools, and processes, including Siemens SAP, TcPCM, and SCM Reporting tools.

  • Desire for and enjoyment of coaching, training, and sharing expertise.

  • Knowledge of Spanish or German.

The pay range for this position is $105,910 - $181,560. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
