Description:

We are looking for an Electrical Project Manager to help us continue to capture and execute on new projects growing ou market share in the Metals industry. This individual must be able to:

1) Manage, Design, Checkout, and commission PLC controlled equipment used in the metals industry. Such equipment may include: material handling systems, steel and aluminum process control systems, transfer cars, automated cranes and more. The electrical equipment often includes: power distribution, variable speed drives, positioning systems, instrumentation, PLCs and HMIs. Familiarity with the National Electrical Code.

2) Understand and program PLC and HMI code and know how to relate it to machine or process operation.

3) Study schematics, equipment layout, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation and wiring procedures of electrical devices on the mechanical equipment.

4) Install or oversee installation of equipment according to manufacturer's specifications.

5) Consult with Mechanical engineering personnel to resolve problems in system operation and maintenance.

6) Interpret maintenance manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, and repairs equipment, utilizing knowledge of electronics and using standard test instruments and hand tools.

7) Instruct and direct workers in building OEM equipment.

8) Help supervise client’s personnel in testing, tuning, and adjusting equipment to obtain optimum operating performance.

9) Advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, and suggestions for product improvements.

10) Travel up to 25% based on the project work load.

11) Work with equipment manufacturing personnel to develop machine conduit layout, shipping splits, and checkout procedures.

12) Be able to work in a heavy industrial environment.

13) Provide system training once installation is complete.

14) Build long term relationships with customer base.

15) Answer customer support phone calls after shipment and acts as liaison to Mechanical Project engineers with technical problems at customer’s site.

16) Coordinate with in-house panel shop and electricians for building control panels and wiring equipment in the shop for testing.

17) Manage designers and automation engineers assigned to your projects.

18) Implement and follow a schedule and budget per project in conjunction with the mechanical project manager.

19) Multitask to manage several projects at once with different designers, automation engineers, and mechanical project managers.

MUST HAVES:

-5+ years of experience (total) industrial automation experience

-Ability to read, modify, program, design, and commission PLCS/Drives/Automation Systems in either Allen Bradley or Siemens (or a similar PLC) coding

-Experience being hands-on even in management

-Some type of product manufacturing experience

NICE TO HAVES:

-Steel or automotive industry. Paper, plastics, or food industries also translate very well.

  • Process line experience

    -Mechanical Systems experience

  • Robotic experience

    -Engineering Degree
