Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Transportation Construction Inspector in Allentown, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 4572798 THE POSITION The Department of Transportation is currently looking for a qualified individual to take on the role of Transportation Construction Inspector in Berks County. This position will involve supporting the county permit supervisor in the Berks County permits office, with the primary goal of ensuring that all correspondence, reviews, and inspections adhere to the relevant standards and regulations. This position will also support the Schuylkill County permits office when needed. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As part of this role, you will be responsible for evaluating a range of highway occupancy permit applications to ensure they meet regulatory requirements and industry standards. You will also conduct independent inspections of construction and bridge projects to verify compliance, promptly notifying your supervisor of any issues or concerns that may arise during the process. Additionally, you will be tasked with addressing both internal and external inquiries and complaints, seeking approval from your supervisor before providing responses.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, on an ad hoc basis during the winter season. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office. This position will cover Berks and Schuylkill Counties. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as an Engineering Technician (commonwealth title); or Two years as a Transportation Technician or Construction Cost Technician 1 (commonwealth titles); or One year of construction inspection experience, and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or

Three years of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or

Three years of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirement:

This position requires possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
