Thank you.Description OverviewReporting to the site automation manager, the liquids automation technician will be responsible for the maintenance of automation systems related to liquids manufacturing and filling operations, oversee controls networks and supporting hardware/software platforms, implement improvement projects, respond to emergency calls, and troubleshoot controls-related issues with maintenance and operations teams. Scope of the RoleWork closely with other functional areas such as engineering, maintenance, operations, IT, and scheduling to implement changes and to investigate and resolve automation issues.Respond to emergencies and troubleshoot issues affecting day-to-day machine performance and efficiency.Design and implement new features and technologies to enhance machine operability, reliability, efficiency, and safety. Complete projects within established timeframes and budgets to ensure that machine downtimes are minimized. Participate in the change management program to evaluate the impact of proposed changes and support post-change qualification activities.Review technical specifications of new equipment to ensure that automation hardware and software designs align with established standards. Provide post-change documentation such as code comparisons and electrical drawing markups.Experience RequiredHigh School Diploma/GED.Certificate of completion as an Electrical Journey Worker licensed with the State of Michigan.5 years of recent and relevant experience programming Allen-Bradley PLC's and HMI's, as well as knowledge of RSLogix500 and Studio5000 is preferred. If applicant has 5 years of relevant experience but is not a Department of Labor Automation Journey Worker, 1000 hours of eligible automation experience must be completed within the first year of employment along with any other classes or instruction needed to meet the established Department of Labor requirements for the automation trade.Proficiency with automation hardware design, communication protocols (Ethernet I/P, Modbus, etc.), drives/servos, robotics, I/O sub-systems, and control system design principles.Excellent problem-solving skills, sound decision making abilities, and ability to meet deadlines in a team-oriented environment.Demonstrated self-confidence and ability to work with multiple departments, consultants, and contractors.Working knowledge of AutoCAD software, and the ability to read, understand, and create drawings, flowcharts, and schematics as they relate to control system design documentation.Ability to communicate effectively via email and use Microsoft Office applications such as MSWord and Excel.Comprehensive knowledge of control panel design and control wiring design principles.Demonstrated commitment to meeting schedules and deadlines through good attendance, and willingness to work overtime and support after-hours emergencies.Strong oral and written communication skills.Strong organization skills and the ability to plan, schedule, and track multiple concurrent projects.Ability to work from ladders/lifts, heavy lifting, and own transportation are necessary and essential functions of the job.
