This project will provide the Customer’s Headquarters facilities and outlying buildings with services necessary to ensure optimal performance and utilization of the facility infrastructure, including, but not limited to, Operation & Maintenance (O&M), recapitalization, renovations, design, construction, records management, repairs to correct identified deficiencies or adverse impacts to operational capabilities, and improvements leveraging innovative and technological solutions.

Who You Are

KBR is in search of a skilled Electrical Engineer for Power to lead our power generation facilities' operations and maintenance. You will work with a team of specialists, focusing on operational effectiveness, maintenance, safety, and environmental compliance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, analytical acumen, an eye for detail, and a proven ability to make decisions and adhere to strict deadlines.

This is a 24x7 operation which requires provision of on-call support. Your role transcends conventional limits, placing a premium on the solid availability of essential systems. It's imperative that these systems remain operational without interruption. Your vigilant oversight and proactive maintenance strategies are the cornerstones of our commitment to delivering stellar customer service.

This role will be located in Alice Springs, Australia at a 4,400-acre facility with approximately 687,000 square feet of mission and support space. The Electrical Engineer for Power will be expected to travel between our facilities in Alice Springs and the local area. This position is expected to be onsite 100%.

What You’ll Do

In the role of Electrical Engineer for Power, your duties will include:

  • Direct the operations and maintenance of the site’s Conditioned Power Plant (CPP) Manager and all facility equipment supporting critical site operations

  • Responsible for the management of Work Orders to include resource management and interfacing with customer representatives

  • Formulating and enforcing operational and maintenance standards that support company objectives, contractual requirements and comply with US Government and Host Nation regulatory and environmental standards

  • Orchestrating activities to align with the overarching contract requirements and to ensure smooth plant operations

  • Guaranteeing the continuity of critical infrastructure operations, with a commitment to reliability for around-the-clock mission support

  • Executing thorough evaluations of facilities to guide the prioritization of key upgrade projects and enhancements for energy management and automation

  • Implementing work processes and leveraging data analysis to assist clients with achieving reliable equipment performance at cost-effective rates

  • Familiarity with deploying Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for asset-intensive operations

  • Drafting comprehensive reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals

  • Communicating effectively with diverse teams, responding to questions, and solving a range of operational issues

  • Applying corporate standards diligently and upholding strict adherence to environmental, health & safety, and regulatory requirements

  • Keeping a close watch on contractual obligations and staying informed of any regulatory changes that impact facility operations

    Physical Demands: This position entails various physical activities, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering through diverse positions, and may require lifting objects up to 50 lbs.

    Requirements

  • Possess an active TS/SCI with adjudicated CI polygraph or Host Nation TS/PV clearance

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university, or be a professionally licensed Electrical Engineer

  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in medium and low voltage distribution; experience with high voltage distribution and frequency conversion equipment

  • Experience working in secured/restricted areas, data centers, (power & cooling) performing configuration management activities, and knowledge of the Uptime Institute Tier configuration topologies

  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and experience with the concepts, design, and engineering of electrical power distribution from both power generation and public utility power to rack-mounted equipment

  • A thorough understanding of SCADA systems and Building Management Systems

  • Experience working in 24x7x365 mission-critical environments where continuous availability is essential and of the highest priority

  • Ability to read construction design and equipment drawings.

  • Knowledge of process improvement models (e.g LEAN/Six Sigma, ISO 9000)

  • Experience in operations management for large physical plants including 4160KV, 480KV, RUPS (including large battery systems), diesel generators, chillers, cooling towers, VAV and volume air handlers, fuel storage systems and related equipment in support of a high-reliability environment

  • Experience developing Standard Operating Procedures and Emergency Response Procedures

  • Knowledge in MEP concepts of operation, and electrical generation procedures

  • Demonstrated supervisory experience with excellent organizational and leadership capabilities
