U.S. Electrical Testing specializes in electrical acceptance testing, maintenance testing, and commissioning services for the nation’s most recognizable mission-critical facilities, secure environments, commercial and industrial clients, and electrical contractors. The company’s capabilities include emergency response, engineering services, and turn-key installation and repair.

•Work alongside the team to conduct thorough electrical system inspections and tests to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations (PMs and CM – as applicable).

•Provide oversight and observe how technicians perform their work, offering feedback and guidance to ensure testing procedures meet safety and regulatory requirements (PMs and CM – as applicable).

•Aid with troubleshooting and diagnosing complex electrical issues in a variety of industrial and commercial environments.

•Assist with day-to-day on-site PM scheduling under the oversight of the Project Manager and collaborate with on-site teams to develop efficient testing strategies, minimizing downtime during maintenance.

•Provide support with reviewing reports (i.e., MOPs, MSOWs, etc.) on testing results.

•Identify opportunities for Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts for repairs and/or upgrades of equipment and provide recommendations for the necessary actions.

•Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve testing methodologies.

•Prioritize safety by following established protocols and using appropriate personal protective equipment.

•Demonstrate strong communication skills to liaise with clients and address their concerns during the testing process.

Schedule

•Availability Onsite support 2x a month, Friday-Sunday (7p-7a) or as applicable based on work.

•Attending Wednesday in-person meeting with government client.

•Support other projects during the week to fulfill 40hours for the week. If scheduled for weekend work, overnight and weekend rates are applicable and utilized.

•Support and coordinate with client for walk-through during the week in preparation for routine and/or large-scale electrical PM and/or CM (as applicable) testing.

Additional Note: It would be beneficial to pool a candidate that has a NETA certification since that has been an ask from client in the past.

Position Summary:

•Programs, installs and maintains protective relaying and metering. Performs electrical tests and repairs concerned with maintenance and performance evaluation of in-service relays to prevent and remedy abnormal behavior or failure of transmission and distribution equipment. Analyzes test results and interprets electrical diagrams to locate defective equipment.

•Essential responsibilities and activities include but are not limited to:

•Proficiently uses hand, power tools, meters and other test equipment in energized electrical rooms, vaults, and substations to install, maintain, repair and program protective relays and associated wiring and equipment

•Applies, reads, understands, reviews and corrects schematic, wiring diagram blueprints and substation drawings and inspections

•Programs and operates various test equipment and exercises all safe work practices as outlined in the company safety handbook

•Commissions new relay and metering installations

•Coordinates testing, troubleshooting and repairs of relaying and other equipment with other department personnel

•Performs maintenance on and testing of relays and associated equipment such as standby generators and display meters

•Troubleshoots, repairs and replaces components involved in questionable operations and failures

•Participates in emergency callouts

•Performs other duties, tasks and special projects as assigned

Position / Candidate Requirement – To Include Education & Years of Experience

  • Valid Drivers License

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% - 50% of the time

  • Strong Oral, Written and Presentation Skills

  • Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams

  • Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives

  • Strong MS Excel, Word, Power DB, and Smartsheet experience is a plus

  • 10+ years of experiencein Related field with a High School Diploma/ GED

  • Clearable US Citizen with ability to obtain an HSPD-12 security clearance with the federal government

Abilities:

  • Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period.

  • Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.

  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.

  • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls, and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.

  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.

  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.

  • Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.

  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.

  • Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).

  • See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

  • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.

Other Abilities:

  • Pulls, pushes or drags up to 80 pounds with or without assistance.

  • Sits, stands, stoops or twists for extended periods of time

  • Works both indoors and outdoors in extreme temperatures including heat, cold, humidity, temperature swings and inclement weather, frequent exposure to dust, odor, electrical, mechanical, loud noise and toxic hazards.

  • Operates hand tools, heavy equipment, light trucks and power tools; 20/20 corrected vision is required to perform visual inspection of small defects, small parts and operation of measurement devices and assembly of fabricated parts.

  • May be required to work after-hours, weekends and holidays and respond timely to urgent or emergency situations.

  • Certifications (desired/advantageous): NETA level III, or IV preferred.
