The Hartford is expanding its Risk Engineering team. T he Inland Marine Technical Manager must be involved in the following business activities that support the business needs of the organization. Strengthen the level of expertise within the Risk Engineering Organization (REO) in the Inland Marine discipline while providing technical assistance and support to all internal and external partners.

Responsibilities:

  • As the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the various Inland Marine Line of Business and related disciplines for all matters relating to the delivery of Risk Engineering products and services inclusive of training, collateral materials, technical assistance and support to both our internal and external partners.

  • Provide the needed technical guidance to understand and anticipate changes in industry, regulation, appetite and strategic business needs.

  • Timely completion of all work assignments and Quality Reviews.

  • Act in a business consultative role to our internal and external business partners.

  • Regularly communicate and collaborate with Inland Marine business partners to create a strong and credible relationship. Communicate information to the REO so assure that they understand and act upon respective business partner key initiatives and objectives.

  • The development and implementation of key training initiatives for all of the products Inland supports, working in conjunction of the Training Director.

  • Plan, organize and manage resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate project plan(s) for special projects as assigned. Monitor progress against the plan taking corrective action when necessary.

  • Serves as Mentor and Project Leader for the organization.

  • Takes on projects more strategic in nature that impact broader topics such as Home Office project teams.

  • Demonstrates leadership competencies in driving change and long range planning for Risk Engineering initiatives

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree preferred

  • Construction or Civil Engineering background with highway, bridge and tunnel experience preferred.

  • Experience with Renewable Energy (solar/BESS) along with general knowledge of all Inland Lines such as Warehouse Legal/Property/Equipment desired.

  • Experience in insurance or related field is required with a minimum of 10 years related experience.

  • Certification/designation(s) (i.e.) of AMIM, CSP, CPCU, ARM, PE, etc. (at least one is preferred, but is not required)

  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast changing, dynamic environment. The ability to work on multiple tasks and assignments.

  • Results orientated and high level of accountability.

  • Motivated, self-starter. Works independently with minimal oversight.

  • Ability to work confidently with all levels of management across organizations including senior executives in Home Office as well as the Field.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$130,320 - $195,480
