Robert Half IT Security Engineer in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Description

Robert Half is seeking a IT Security Engineer for a New Mexico based financial institute.

Under direction of the AVP Information Technology, the IT Security Engineer safeguards critical infrastructure and information assets across the enterprise. The scope involves design, oversight and coordination of information system design initiatives, including Systems, Application Architecture, and Network Architecture. The Security Engineer will identify, develop and disseminate enterprise security initiatives, policies, procedures and standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The Security Engineer will maintain strong working relationships with all key corporate stakeholders and be active within the information security industry. This individual will strive to meet objectives with agreed timeframes, budgets and service levels.

Primary Duties

-Monitor security threats, analyze vulnerability assessments, and balance security with business rules/needs.

-Engineer and implement technical solutions for information security requirements, including configuration and mentoring team members during the implementation process.

-Support and operate information security infrastructure including vulnerability scanners, log management, analytics tools, and intrusion detection systems.

-Evaluate new cyber security tools and products for their ability to address specific threats.

-Work with vendors, outside consultants, and other third parties to improve information security within the organization.

-Perform ongoing information risk assessments and audits to ensure that information systems and data are adequately protected and meet regulatory requirements.

-Perform computer forensics on an as needed basis.

-Create dashboards and deliver metrics related to information security operations.

-Interface with executives and business units to understand security needs, conduct accurate evaluation of level of security required and implement procedures to accommodate requirements.

-Deliver educational information to system administrators and users.

-Development and documentation of information security standards, best practices, standards and guidelines.

Secondary Duties

-Maintain confidentiality, integrity and availability with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by systems.

-Assists in the evaluation and performance of the organization's security program.

-Participates on organizational committees or project teams.

-Participates in a lead role for all security audits.

-Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Experience:

Five years of increasingly responsible information assurance/security experience.

Education:

Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, data processing, or a related field. Certifications: CISSP required; COBIT, ITIL, GIAC, MCSE, and/or Cisco certifications preferred but not required.

Technical Competencies

-Advanced knowledge of network security infrastructure, risk analysis, data/voice communication systems, services and system/network configurations. Network operations, design, and systems management.

-Strong knowledge of Web and distributed systems.

-Strong knowledge of enterprise networks impact on application design and performance, scripting and full scale system implementation on Windows/VMWare platforms.

-Strong security product knowledge and conceptual understanding of current technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, IDSs and other security devices.

-Strong analytical and strategic planning skills (i.e., technical and non-technical problem solving skills).

-Ability to communicate technical and security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff and management.

-Ability to persuade, convince and influence others through collaboration.

-Working knowledge and understanding of PII, PCI and HIPAA.

-Working understanding of COBIT, NIST, 20 Critical Controls, ISO 17799 / 2700X, OWASP and OWASP-ASVS
