THE POSITION

In this role, you will supervise and instruct inmate workers in the successful completion of welding work assignments at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Albion. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will oversee and direct inmate work crews in completing welding work orders. Your responsibilities will include planning and assigning daily schedules for inmates, as well as inspecting finished assignments. You will provide training and instruction covering the standard practices, methods, and procedures of the welding trade, encompassing the use of arc, gas, and tack welding techniques. Additionally, you will conduct classroom training, deliver a structured curriculum in the trade, and record inmate training progress, attendance, and assignment details.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 40 hour work week Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM; work days to be determined. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please Note: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $48,425.00 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
    • Four years of experience in arc and gas welding of various components or structural frameworks; or
    • Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the welding trade; or
    • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the welding trade.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

    • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Legal Requirements:
    • You must pass a background investigation.
