DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for driving and operating commercial vehicles in support of commissary operations which involves loading and unloading of freight; performing routine vehicle maintenance and safety checks; and minor equipment repairs. The vehicles you will operate include vans, motor vehicle trucks, and tractor-trailers. You will provide supervision to inmates assigned to commissary operations, as well as train inmate workers in the proper methods of trailer loading and unloading; minor equipment repair; and completion of bills of lading. Thorough and accurate completion of reports and inventories are essential duties of the position.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment (40-hour work week)
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please note, selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,753.00 (before taxes).

*  REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY*

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in the operation of tractor-trailer trucks; or
  • A combination of experience and training which affords the applicant the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

Special Requirement:

This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class A Commercial Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
