Facilities Worker (Albion, MI)

The Facilities Worker is to support the maintenance needs of Starr Commonwealth's facilities and grounds. You will fulfill your purpose by successfully ensuring that facilities and grounds are safe, clean, up-to-code, operational, and supporting tenant satisfaction and continued occupancy to protect Starr Commonwealth's investment.Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and maintenance of facilities and grounds to reflect the value and importance of clients being served.

• Safely use maintenance equipment including saws, hand tools, chainsaws, power tools, lawn equipment.

• Identify any maintenance issues that need addressed and correct them.

• Perform indoor and outdoor painting work in a quality manner that perpetuates beauty is a silent teacher.

• Ensure safety of staff, clients, and visitors by completing snow and ice removal, demonstrate adequate ability to drive a truck and snowplow.

• Responds to repair requests quickly and with a professional manner.

• Utilize trouble shooting skills to diagnose basic electrical issues and identify general building maintenance issues.

• Work in conjunction with development staff and participate in donor visits as requested.

• Perform general repairs that do not require a specialized technician.

• Work affectively with team members to address larger maintenance projects.

• Attend safety trainings and all classes related to assigned responsibilities such as pool operator classes, specialized mechanical operations training, and campus wide employee trainings.

• Demonstrate a clear understanding of Starr Commonwealth's mission and core values.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

• Previous experience in maintenance or related field

• Position requires bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, ability to lift 50-100 pounds, ability to climb and perform work while on a ladder

• Valid driver's license without restrictions and minimal violations over past 3 years

• Regular attendance is an essential function of the job as well as reporting to work on time and as scheduled. Physical presence on site is a requirement for this position.

• Some overtime required.

  Preferred Education or Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent

  Additional Information: this position is contingent upon the ongoing lease agreement of our facilities. While we anticipate a stable and long-term occupancy, please note that your employment may be affected by changes in our leasing arrangements. Compensation Package: Hourly rate is $18.50 - $20.00 and is combined with a comprehensive fringe benefit package.
