Responsive Deployment Bilingual Youth Care Professional in Albion, Michigan

Bilingual (Preferred) Youth Care Professionals are needed for a new facility in Albion, Michigan! All shifts available - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Relief/On Call.

JOB SUMMARY:

Youth Care Professional (YCP) is responsible for providing direct care and supervision for unaccompanied children and youth. Services are provided primarily to children between the ages of 10 -17, residing in a 24-hour shelter funded by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). YCP is also responsible for facilitating a variety of services for youth including providing program orientation, safe transportation, and intake services, and may be asked to assist in vocational, recreational, and structured leisure services. The YCP must ensure that services comply with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) licensing rules and ORR policies. Must strictly enforce and adhere to ORR's Zero Tolerance Policy regarding abuse and neglect and all relevant ORR policies and procedures always ensuring the safety of the children and youth.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Support the Intake Process and assist in assessing and addressing each child's physical, medical, and behavioral health needs.

Serve as the child's first initial contact and ensure that their basic immediate needs are met such as (food, bathroom/shower, providing clean clothing and hygiene items, and assigning to a dorm room).

During this initial interaction, the YCP will report any concerns immediately to be addressed by the other Team members (I.e., medical, clinical, case management) and adhere to the reporting and documenting process as per policies and procedures set forth by MDHHS and federal (ORR) requirements.

Actively engage in Daily Programming Activities for children and youth and coordinate/facilitate recreational activities (ex: soccer tournaments, walking outdoors), age and developmentally-appropriate educational/tutoring services (ex: reading, writing, physical education, and arithmetic), vocational services (ex: life skills such as: learning to use a washing machine, personal hygiene to include approved curriculum on puberty and growth, and sexual health, mechanic class, first aid and CPR, sewing/knitting class, and music appreciation), and structured leisure activities (ex: Holiday celebrations, birthdays, TV time, Movie Night, pool table, and recognizing special milestones for children).

May also be designated as a Youth Activity Leader for Youth Lead Empowerment Activities including Student Council, Children's Welcoming Team, Kids' Voice, and Choice, and Religious Events.

Assist in the Crisis Response for children and youth identified as high-risk for runaway or who may have absconded and provide behavioral support.

May be assigned to assist in the Discharge Planning Team for children and youth who may be reunifying with Sponsors or returning to their country of origin.

Supervise children and youth in any of the following locations, including but not limited to indoors or outdoors of program/facilities, bedrooms, hallways, during restroom breaks, classrooms, cafeteria, community areas/living areas, office space, phone center, outdoor recreation space, during appointments with required service delivery personnel such as legal services, medical care, case management, clinical, religious services, during transportation services or while engaging in activities that require off-site services for youth.
