University at Albany Visiting Assistant Professor of French in Albany, New York

The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University at Albany, State University of New York invites applications for a one year position of Visiting Assistant Professor of French, renewable for an additional year. The position carries a 2-3 course laod and includes directing the program (scheduling and supervision of adjuncts, advising of minors and interdisciplinary majors in French, oversight of student activities, curriculum development, etc). The expectation is for in person instruction. Teaching responsibilities include: 2-3 course load, including the third year capstone course, Introduction to Global French Studies Special topics relating to francophone cultures, especially outside France Administrative responsibilities include: Direct the French program, including scheduling and supervision of contingents Advise French minors and interdisciplinary majors in French Oversight of student activities, curriculum development, honor society etc. Requirements: PhD from a college or University accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization (in hand at the time of appointment) Have solid pedagogical training with native or near native French and English Ability to teach advanced undergraduate courses in language and culture, as well as general education courses in English Applicants MUST submit the following documents: CV and Cover letter stating how you meet all the required qualifications of the position 10-page writing sample Teaching philosophy Three letters of recommendation
