Minimum Qualifications Required Qualifications: QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree required. Relevant advanced degree preferred.Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience related to compliance, risk management, internal controls, and/or audit.Skills:Effective analytical abilities. Strategic thinking and planning.Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.Strong communication skills and the necessary skills to function effectively and work collaboratively in a decentralized institutional setting.Attention to detail, and effective organizational and time management skills to deal with multiple priorities at once in a timely and thorough fashion.Familiarity with and ability to review and comprehend relevant federal/state laws and regulatory requirements.Initiative and ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.High professional and ethical standards; sense of accountability and sound personal and professional judgement; and ability to properly handle confidential information.Willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community. Preferred Qualifications:Experience in higher education or government.Knowledgeable in utilizing analytical tools.Good presentation skills.Previous experience with institution-wide compliance programs, research compliance, and/or policy development and management.Experience in preparing and delivering training programs.

Duties Description Job SummaryReporting to the Chief Officer for Risk and Compliance, this position operates and implements SUNY's Systemwide Compliance and Risk programs by engaging with and advising stakeholders systemwide; identifying and addressing compliance deficiencies; assisting in identifying, assessing, and managing high priority risks systemwide; and developing guidance and mitigation strategies to stakeholders, including campuses, System Administration leaders, and the Board of Trustees. Duties and ResponsibilitiesIdentify all key compliance requirements throughout the SUNY system.Implement a systemwide compliance program.Maintain a compliance database to help monitor the laws, rules and regulations applying to SUNY.Conduct regular compliance and risk assessments and maintain a risk matrix to help prioritize mitigation plans and activities.Develop formal guidance documents on key compliance areas for stakeholders.Serve as an ongoing resource to campuses by providing ad hoc and informal guidance as needed.Assist risk owners in the development of control activities to mitigate identified risks.Collaborate with subject matter experts in the development of tools, templates, formal procedures, and other documentation to assist the SUNY community in assessing and managing compliance and risk concerns.Participate in, coordinate, and provide training to the SUNY community on compliance and risk management.Participate in creating a risk-aware culture, imbedding consideration of risk into System decision-making Serve as a key member of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) CommitteeContribute to ERM strategic planning and implementation of priority action items.Develop reports on compliance and risk management activities and best practices for presentation to System leadership.Regularly engage University Audit to identify common compliance and risk concerns across the SUNY system and coordinate activity.Monitor industry trends and SUNY's environment to identify and address emerging compliance and risk issues.Complete other tasks, as assigned by the Chief Officer for Risk and Compliance and SUNY leadership.

Additional Comments Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications.
