Job Description:

Responsibilities

Health Research, Inc. is seeking a Senior Laboratory Technician to work within a research program under NIH funding support for structural and function studies of macromolecular assemblies and organelles by cryo-electron electron microscopy. The Senior Laboratory Technician will work in a research team under the supervision of the principal investigator. The incumbent will assist with the following: live cell imaging by light microscope (LM), cryo-EM specimen preparation for cells and protein complexes, cryo-EM image data collection, and routine computational image processing.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related physical science or related field; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and two years of experience in a laboratory or clinical setting; OR four years of such experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a physical science or related field, such as biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, and other biological sciences. Experience in protein biochemistry, mammalian cell biology, fluorescence light microscopy, electron microscopy and related specimen preparation, and/ or vacuum equipment. Experience with computational image processing using Python, java programming, or other script languages and Linux systems.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, up to 10% of the time, will be required.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will not be available.
