Performs a variety of technical duties involved in conducting biochemical, molecular biology, small animal (mice) and immunology experiments to advance inflammation and arthritis-related research at Albany Medical College.
Job Description
Performs routine procedures and experiments to address research questions under the guidance of senior research technician, research laboratory manager and/or the principal investigator. Prepares culture media, chemical reagents, and solutions.
Maintains detailed notes and documents experimental results. Performs basic data analysis, prepares data for presentation, and presents results to the laboratory team as needed.
Confers with principal investigator to review work assignments and plans for research experiments. Prepares and improves existing laboratory procedures and techniques to meet research requirements/goals as required
Reviews laboratory methods, manuals and/or scientific literature for information needed to perform and troubleshoot research techniques and/or experiment.
Sets up, operates, cleans, and maintains as needed, laboratory instruments, equipment, and tools and apparatus. Offers suggestions for purchase of necessary equipment when appropriate.
Maintains sufficient inventory of appropriate material, supplies and equipment required for laboratory operations.
Molecular biology and small animal research experience preferred.
