JOB SUMMARY

Owens & Minor is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join its growing Patient Direct organization and to partner with IT leadership for business unit support. The ideal candidate should have outstanding analytical and interpersonal skills and be able to listen actively, communicate professionally, and participate in several projects in parallel. We are seeking a self-organized and logical thinker with a keen attention to detail. This role allows for consistent exposure to senior leadership and will work with multiple business leaders across the Patient Direct enterprise.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Primary financial and business partner support for Patient Direct CIO

  • Budget and Forecast preparation and variance analysis of the IT department

  • Monthly expense reconciliation process and variance explanations with FP&A

  • Annual budgeting procedures, including building up a zero-based bottom’s up budget for two business entities

  • Prepare ongoing forecasting projections and suggest improvements for the process and results

  • Involvement with IT procurement, understanding financials and working with the team to build business cases and investment requests

  • Provides ideas for optimization

  • Prepares regular and ad hoc reports to provide transparency to the internal stakeholders

Education and/or Experience

  • BS/BA in Finance, Economics or Accounting required

  • Advanced Excel Skills required

  • Experience with Business Intelligence Software (Hyperion, Cognos, Power BI, etc.) preferred

  • 5+ years overall experience with business, finance, or analytics-focused environment; experience with TM1

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Cognos BI, Cognos TM1, Hyperion Essbase or comparable experience required

  • Understanding of Financial concepts including Income Statement structure, P&L terminology, and basic financial calculations. Strong mathematical capabilities. Strong Excel skills, especially the ability to work with complex formulas

  • Superior problem-solving skills

  • Ability to adapt to changes in priorities, circumstances, and direction

  • Strong data analysis skills required. Superior financial modeling, Excel and PowerPoint skills required

  • Ability to tear apart a complex problem, understand what is going on, put it all back together and ultimately communicate succinctly with senior leadership

  • Ability to communicate and work cross-functionally with all areas of Finance

  • An eye for continual process improvement

  • Ability to see the big picture and see things from a strategic perspective

  • Ability to present information, analysis and financial data in a clear, concise manner to non-financial managers and senior leadership

  • Demonstrated history of identifying and resolving a wide range of issues in imaginative and practical ways, as well as exercising good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions

  • Demonstrated strength working cross functionally to drive issue resolution, results driven, problem solver, self-starter

  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work proactively, independently and in a team environment

  • High attention to detail with an eagerness to review and analyze data

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including advanced proficiency with MS Excel and preferably MS PowerPoint

  • Experience with budget/forecast systems (Hyperion, TM1)

  • Data visualization tools like Domo, Tableau, Power BI a plus

Language Skills

  • English (reading, writing, verbal)

Mathematical Skills

  • College level mathematical proficiency, with a strong ability to understand, interpret and develop spreadsheet data

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations

  • Designation such as MBA, CPA or CMA a plus

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Healthcare background a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is a stationary position that requires frequent sitting or standing, repetitive wrist motions, grasping, speaking, listening, close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. It also may require occasional lifting, carrying, walking, climbing, kneeling, bending/stooping, twisting, pulling/pushing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching above the shoulder.
