DXC Technology Manager External Communications, Earned Media in Albany, New York

Job Description:

Reporting to the Head, Global External Communications, the Manager of External Communications, Earned Media will be based in the US and part of a global team responsible for shaping and delivering DXC’s external communication strategy. This role will focus on proactive earned media engagement with an emphasis on crafting compelling news and narratives, building and nurturing media relationships, securing positive earned media coverage, and overseeing earned media measurement. The ideal candidate will have 7-9 years of experience in a communications role and a proven track record of writing and editing as well as a track record of successful proactive media engagement in the technology space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation:

  • Develop, write, and edit media materials including news releases, fact sheets, op-eds, and other external communications materials, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with company messaging.

  • Ensure all written content adheres to the company’s brand voice and standards.

  • Media Relations:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant members of the media, including journalists, editors, and influencers, particularly in technology trade and vertical media.

  • Convert media relationships to company media coverage.

  • Act as one of the primary contacts for incoming media inquiries and facilitate interviews and information requests.

  • Measurement:

  • Prepare detailed reports on media coverage reflective of key KPIs and inclusive of analysis to be shared with company leadership.

  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on media analysis to inform proactive media engagement.

  • Public Relations Campaigns:

  • Assist in the development and execution of public relations campaigns to support company initiatives, product launches, and strategic goals.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure campaigns consist of mediable elements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.

  • 7-9 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a similar role.

  • Strong writing and editing skills.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with media.

  • Proficiency in media monitoring tools and analytics.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in technology communications.

  • Familiarity with digital and social media platforms and strategies.

  • Knowledge of crisis communication and management.

Compensation at DXC is influenced by an array of factors, including but not limited to the experience, job-related knowledge, skills, competencies, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is $91,400 - $169,700.

Full-time hires are eligible to participate in the DXC benefit program.
