Albany County Crime Victim Therapist (Child) (HELPS) in Albany, New York

DEPARTMENT: Albany County Crime Victims and Sexual Violence CenterSALARY: $55,900WORK LOCATION: 112 State St and White Cottage (confidential, satellite location)BENEFITS:► Paid Time-Off ► Tuition Reimbursement ► NYS Retirement► Health, Dental, Vision and Hearing ► Employee Assistance ProgramRESPONSIBILITIES:Provides therapy sessions, crisis intervention counseling, assessment, referrals and follow-up medical and legal advocacy to childand youth victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and other interpersonal crimes. These services may include assessment,treatment, planning and intervention, forensic interviewing, appropriate referrals to social services, medical and mental health agencies, and other community resources. Although the incumbent will also work with adults, the work is distinguished from that of aCrime Victim Therapist in that the incumbent is assigned primarily to child victims of crime and is experienced in child therapy. Workis performed under the general supervision of a Clinical Supervisor. Does related work as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:At least a Master’s Degree in counseling, clinical social work or closely related field AND, EITHER:A. Six (6) months of experience conducting individual therapy with children and adolescents; OR,B. Successful completion of a master’s level internship with a rape crisis or victim assistance program.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:1. Eligibility for and possession of a valid New York State driver’s license at time of appointment;2. Must be licensed or have applied for licensure from NY State as an LMSW, LCSW or LMHC within six (6) months of appointment.3. This is a Hiring Emergency Limited Placement (HELP) Program-designatedtitle. The HELP Program is a temporary program designed to help local government employers address current staffing issues.Traditionally, the titles filled under the HELP Program required job candidates to compete in a competitive exam to be consideredfor employment. For the duration of the program, this title will be classified as non-competitive and categorized as a “HELP Program” position. At the close of the program, this position will revert to competitive class status. Employees occupying positionsfilled through the HELP Program will be granted competitive class status without the need to participate in a competitive exam.
