Join our team as the Associate Director for Graduate Student Support and Diversity, where you will play a pivotal role in fostering diversity and supporting the academic and professional growth of graduate students. You will oversee the Carson Carr Diversity Fellowship Program and work in collaboration with the Director of Graduate Recruitment and Marketing to develop and implement a targeted recruitment and marketing plan to increase applications from traditionally underrepresented groups.

Your key responsibilities will include organizing and presenting professional development workshops and panel discussions, managing the annual 3-Minute Thesis event, and planning new graduate student orientations each fall and spring semester. You will facilitate orientation for new Graduate Directors, coordinate Grad Board meetings, and collaborate with faculty to develop workshops that aid in students' successful program progression. Additionally, you will support students and their advisors in submitting federal grant fellowship applications, oversee the Graduate Opportunity Program, and manage the annual Graduate & Professional School Fair and the Graduate Resource Fair.

The role also involves developing online training programs, coordinating with University Libraries for student workshops, and supervising graduate student assistants. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Carson Carr Diversity Fellowship Program to facilitate diversity among graduate students.

  • Responsible for Diversity initiatives including collaborating with the Director of Graduate Recruitment and Marketing in developing a strategic recruitment and marketing plan to increase applications from traditionally underrepresented groups.

  • Develop, present, and host panel discussions, workshops and presentations for graduate student professional development

  • Manage and direct the 3-Minute Thesis event each academic year

  • Plan and implement new graduate student orientation events each fall and spring semester

  • Facilitate orientation for new Graduate Directors each Fall semester

  • Facilitate Grad Board meetings 1-2 times per semester

  • Work with faculty in various disciplines to organize and develop workshops for current doctoral students and Master's students on strategies for successful program progression.

  • Work with graduate students and their advisors to facilitate and support the submission of federal grant fellowship applications

  • Oversee the Graduate Opportunity Program

  • Oversee and implement the Graduate Fair each year

  • Oversee and implement the Graduate Resource Fair each year

  • Development and implementation online training programs

  • Coordinate with University Libraries to offer workshops for graduate students

  • Supervise graduate student assistants

    Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working in higher education

  • Experience working to organize groups and teams

  • Experience organizing small to medium sized events

  • Experience presenting to professional audiences including colleagues, faculty, graduate students and other related audiences

  • Demonstrated experience with collaborative team initiatives

  • Must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships with our diverse campus community.

  • Must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to the role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years working in higher education

  • at least 3 years' leadership experience

  • Experience creating and presenting professional development workshops for peers, clients, students, or related audiences.

  • Experience with a customer relations management system (e.g., Slate)

    Additional Information:

Professional Rank and Salary Grade: Staff Associate, SL-4, $70,000-$75,000
