The College of Engineering and Applied Sciences of the University at Albany seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position beginning Fall 2023 for its Environmental and Sustainable Engineering Department.
The successful candidate is expected to develop an externally funded research program in environmental and sustainable engineering. In addition, the applicant will be responsible for teaching 2-4 courses per year at the undergraduate and/or graduate level and participate in curriculum development. Other teaching assignments will be determined by the candidate's expertise and the needs of the Department.
Faculty are expected to provide service to the College and their home departments and programs by participating in governance as well as providing professional service to the community and their disciplines. The successful applicant will be expected to actively mentor undergraduate and graduate students, including underserved and historically underrepresented students, and participate in pipeline programs to help build a diverse and representative student population. The applicant must also participate in research tied to their interests and expertise with faculty in the other departments.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering, or a closely related discipline, from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization or anticipate completion by May 2023.
Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, air quality and pollution prevention, renewable materials, sustainable design, food-energy-water nexus, and water resources engineering.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in environmental engineering or a closely related discipline from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by May 2023.
Applicants must address in their application their ability to work with a culturally diverse population.
Successful applicants will present/have a record of research accomplishments in an area that aligns with environmental and sustainable engineering or a closely related discipline.
Applicants must address their plans to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in environmental and sustainable engineering or closely related disciplines.
Applicants must address their plan to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in varying modalities including in-person, online, and/or hybrid.
Effective communication skills as demonstrated through interviews.
Applicants must address their plan for building a research program that attracts research funding, supports graduate students, and produces scholarly works.
Preferred Qualifications:
A record of or demonstrated potential for seeking external funding for their research.
Participation in sponsored research, either as a student or PI, will strengthen the application.
Record of effectively teaching graduate and/or undergraduate levels as evidenced in application materials.
Demonstrated ability to communicate science effectively to multiple constituencies.
Additional Information:
Professional Rank and Salary Range: Assistant Professor (10 months) OR Associate Professor (10 months), competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
