CITY OF ALAMOSA Street Maintenance Worker in ALAMOSA, Colorado
POSITION: Maintenance Worker
DUTIES: 1.Operates equipment and vehicles used in the repair and maintenance of City streets. 2. Transports equipment and tools to and from work sites. 3. Maintains and repairs equipment, tools, and streets. 4. Assists with seasonal snow, ice, and leaf removal. 5. Assists in excavating materials from job sites. 6. Repairs concrete and asphalt streets as required. 7. Responds to emergency call-out situations as required. 8. Conduct and set up traffic control under the direction of Supervisor 9. Performs other related duties as assigned. 10. Obtain and Maintain a current Flagger certification 11. Attend safety training and seminars 12. Utilize proper safety precautions related to all work performed 13. Prepare, install, repair, and replace City signs and posts. 14. Clean and maintain storm drains, inlets and storm channels 15. Spread, rake, lay asphalt, and seal cracks on city streets 16. Perform rough carpentry and pipefitting or irrigation system repairs 17. Maintain records of work performed 18. Perform on-call duties or other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS: 1. General street maintenance knowledge. 2. Knowledge of front-end loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, and other types of heavy and light equipment used in the repair and maintenance of street 3. Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials, and procedures used in the maintenance and repair of streets. 4. Knowledge of City geography. 5. Knowledge of basic carpentry. 6. High School Diploma or Equivalent. 7. Knowledge of basic fabrication.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 1. Operate related maintenance equipment. 2. Learn repetitive tasks quickly. 3. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. 4. Speak, read, and write in the English language. 5. Develop and maintain an effective working relationship with the general public and city staff. 6. Complete assigned work in a timely manner with limited supervision. Any combination of training and related experiences that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 7. WAGE: $22.50 - $23.63
