Alamosa, Adams State University is a state-supported institution in the San Luis Valley, South-central Colorado located two and a half hours north of Santa Fe, NM and four hours south of Denver, CO. Description of Job

This position will work part-time in the Facilities Services Department of Adams State University reporting to the Transportation Department. This work unit supports the institution by driving student and staff to and from events and/or activities utilizing State Fleet Vehicles.

Other specific duties of this position are:

  • Performs pre-trip inspections and documents on all fleet vehicles and equipment.

  • Performs maintenance on vehicles and equipment including auto detail, repairs, preventative maintenance, inspections, and records any necessary documentation.

  • Cleaning and maintaining Fleet vehicles

  • Responsible for inspecting vehicles and maintaining inspection documents as well as other associated records and reports as needed.

  • Monitoring the mechanical condition of vehicles and equipment.

  • Perform light maintenance of vehicles and equipment such as maintaining air and fluid pressure, monitor tire conditions, and wiper blades.

  • Aid in transporting Fleet vehicles to outside sources/vendors for repairs

This position also may require work outside of normal business hours.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Only:

Two (2) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position

Special Requirements:

This position requires a Class B commercial license with a passenger endorsement and any requirements including drug screening and DOT physicals.

Please submit a copy of current Colorado Driver's License, a CDL medical card and a DMV record with your application.

A successful candidate will demonstrate responsible professional conduct at all times; will be punctual and observe scheduled work hours; will not abuse leave and will follow call-in procedures. the successful candidate will also follow safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment, when required.

Although this position is non-exempt for FLSA, it is a condition of employment at Adams State University to agree to receive compensation time in lieu of overtime pay.

Must be willing and able to meet the demands of the job which includes frequent bending, occasional lifting of approximately 50 pounds and sitting for extensive durations.
