Position Summary

Bridgestone Americas is seeking a Sr. Product Design Engineer for a role in pre-production technology development. The engineer will be responsible for developing and de-risking new technologies for passenger tires, light truck tire, and heavy-duty truck tires. The engineer may also be responsible for supporting new product and advanced development via engineering analysis, simulation, preparation and testing of prototypes, and other duties.

This is a Hybrid position that requires the person to be onsite in Akron, OH Tuesday through Thursday and work at least 20 hours per week onsite during that time period. The person can work from anywhere the other part of the time Mondays and Fridays.

Responsibilities

Applies engineering principles to develop technically rigorous solutions to meet customer technical/functional specifications & manufacturing costs/requirements

· Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and testing of prototypes

· Effectively applies APQP/QFD to identify and mitigate project risks

· Effectively plans and executes project timelines to achieve customer milestones on-time w/ consideration for contingencies

· Applies FEA modeling techniques to solve complex engineering problems

· Works independently with general supervision from higher level professionals and subject matter experts

· Communicates and collaborates effectively with stakeholders, teammates, and partners

· Other Duties as Assigned

Minimum Qualifications

· Typically Requires 5-7 years experience with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent; or 2-3 years experience with a master’s degree

Minimum Qualifications

Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience
