About the Opportunity This is an open position with the FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [SC00] The Manager, Supply Chain Strategic Category Management will lead the Vegetation Management team in Supply Chain and support our Corporate Vegetation Management group in strategy development, sourcing and negotiating contracts. This position pursues significant reductions in initial costs by category, monitoring and approving category specialist strategies, and seeking year-on-year improvements in total cost of ownership, maintaining or improving service levels. The manager evaluates and monitors the performance of strategic teams and develops employees. This position works closely with stakeholders (users, support areas) to develop effective cost-reduction strategies, procurement planning, and execution plans. The position will be located in either Akron, OH or Greensburg, PA with a mobile designation. Responsibilities include: Managing the total cost of ownership of the Procurement area, coordinating with the category specialists who manage each category Coordinating planning efforts and leading a team of category sourcing specialists Reviewing, monitoring, and approving strategic plans by category Developing and managing complex negotiations with suppliers Leveraging technology to develop innovative sourcing strategies Implementing category level supplier performance management plans Overseeing development and implementation of sourcing improvement opportunities through strategic category management process Monitoring the selection and management process of current suppliers, verifying compliance with the policy Working with performance management to track performance of each category under his/her management Developing best practices in each category Ensuring user satisfaction in the strategic sourcing process Ensuring user groups/areas of categories are informed of the progress and strategy associated with them Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, business, engineering or related discipline is preferred and a minimum of 7 years' relevant work experience is required. In lieu of degree, a minimum of 10 years' relevant work experience is required. Relevant work experience includes experience in Supply Chain, project management, budget management, strategic sourcing, or vegetation management. Minimum of 2 years' supervisory experience is preferred. Successful track record in Procurement. Strong strategic and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to solve long-term and analytical problems. Exceptional supplier relationship and contract/conflict management skills. Extensive negotiation skills and best practices in contracting. Strong project management skills and ability to plan and manage numerous people, processes, and resources.
