Job Title: Maintenance Technician II

Job Summary:

Assists Maintenance Mechanic I in all activities and duties. Coordinate and complete preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, overhead doors, dock levelers, and other mechanical systems. Performs minor repairs on above systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists Maintenance Mechanic I in all activities and duties.

  • Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.

  • Assists in dismantling devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.

  • Assists in inspecting used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.

  • Assists in adjusting functional parts or devices and control instruments.

  • Assists in repairing or replacing defective parts.

  • Assists in installing special functional and structural parts in devices

  • Lubricates and cleans parts.

  • Performs preventative maintenance tasking as assigned.

  • Responsible for accurate and timely paperwork related to essential duties and responsibilities.

  • Maintain, organize, and control inventory supplies tools and equipment.

  • Clean and organize shop area. Maintain inventory of spare parts and material. Maintain tools and equipment for maintenance work.

Education and/or Experience

  • Must be trained and certified to operate a fork truck.

  • Must have a valid drivers license.

  • HS Diploma

  • Six (6) or more years related experience and training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

  • Basic skills such as Internet searches, use of email systems, electronic manuals, electronic learning, etc.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Not required, but helpful

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of HVAC codes and regulations preferred.

  • Ability to successfully complete the required company training.

  • Must be able to work varying shifts, weekend and holidays as needed.

Other Qualifications

  • Must be able to respond to emergencies when needed.

  • Must be able to use a variety of hand and power tools and be able to off of ladders, staging, and power platforms.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
