Primary Purpose:

The Corporate Accounting Manager will assist in providing financial and technical Accounting advice to all of the strategic business units (SBUs) and Corporate Functions Globally. This position will direct the Financial Accounting and Reporting activities to ensure compliance with all internal/external requirements (SEC and SOX). in this role, you will manage the internal/external Reporting Process and help to ensure compliance with relevant Accounting Principles/Procedures and lead Accounting workstreams for continuous improvement projects and initiatives.

Primary Duties:

  • Day-to-day management of the Corporate Accounting and Reporting Staff (including the updating of month/quarter-end closing responsibilities).

  • Continuous evaluation of the business processes/procedures implemented by Corporate Accounting and Reporting.

  • Assist the Director in setting objectives (and implementing best practices) to improve efficiencies in the monthly close process and the quarterly process of data gathering (using the Hyperion based system).

  • Evaluate specific transactions that may take place in each of the SBU's (Treasury, Business Development and Information Technology) and assess the proper Accounting treatment of those particular transactions.

  • This manager should have a thorough understanding of the United States (U.S.) Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and assist in applying these principles to transactions that are accounted for and reviewed in Corporate Accounting.

  • Ability to exercise significant judgment when evaluating transactions.

  • Responsible for ensuring all Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) Controls (Corporate Accounting performs) are appropriately completed.

  • Management and oversight of the Financial Reporting Systems (including consolidations, intercompany transactions and eliminations).

  • A strong knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems (relating to consolidations, intercompany transactions and eliminations) is important.

  • Manage the Chart of Accounts (in coordination with Shared Services) to make sure transactions are recorded efficiently and proper Accounting in consolidation.   

  • Closely collaborate with Peer Manager to ensure staff is cross-trained on departmental responsibilities and are provided appropriate and timely feedback on their performance.

  • Focus on staff development to ensure appropriate succession planning for management-level positions.

  • Challenge processes and procedures to ensure practices are performed efficiently utilizing new systems/programs.   

Required Education and Experience :

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • 8 or more years of experience in Accounting and Auditing (in a large Public Accounting Firm desired)

  • Experience in complex Enterprise Accounting Systems (including consolidating data from multiple locations [whether domestic or international], subsidiaries or reporting units)

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Masters degree, MBA, or CPA desired

  • People Management Skills (including a proven ability to attract superior talent and provide training/development as part of a coordinated Talent Development Plan)

  • Strong Analytical Skills (ability to understand complex dat/issues and think outside the box)

  • Ability to interpret and apply current US GAAP
