Our Engineering teams are vital to the success of our existing and emerging products and systems platforms. We are the one of the largest and most trusted global providers of monitoring systems including sensors, monitors and software within the power generation and energy industry. We help our customers to ensure grid reliability and the transition from scheduled to condition based maintenance practices.

What you will do…

As a key leader within this team, you will be responsible for driving Value Engineering initiatives and executing Qualitrol’s Sustain Engineering programs per Fortive’s processes. The position requires a highly motivated, team oriented professional with the right mix of relevant experience and skills. This includes an ability to flex between the strategic and the tactical, having a keen interest in learning about the company product offering and proactively maintaining and enhancing released products and platforms using the latest technologies. You will use your outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and a high level of energy and flexibility to get things done and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented product development environment. You will be a leader who embodies Fortive’s leadership principles of leading by example, communicating openly, enabling and inspiring extraordinary teams, excelling with partners, acting decisively with high integrity and collaborating effectively to delight customers.

In this role, you will manage a team of technical Leads, designer & developers who use Agile development methods and the scrum framework to deliver critical, customer facing, monitoring systems, sensors and solutions for utilities and industrial customers. You will be expected to possess a thorough understanding of technical challenges including both product development methods, as well as enforcing organizational behaviors to ensure quality and sustainability. You will support the efforts to drive technology road maps and the systems platform for our Systems COE. This role will report into the Director of Systems COE.

Responsibilities include fostering collaboration across global business and technology organizations, providing sound analysis and change leadership. Building and maintaining strong relationships is essential, as you will work with our product managers, operations team, technology partners and project team members daily to ensure delivery of quality products and services in alignment with global strategic initiatives and requirements across the company. You will be responsible for building extraordinary teams and keeping the organization highly engaged and motivated, delivering exceptional results. The ability to work across functions and teams will allow you to ensure alignment of priorities and goals, drive results and promote a culture and environment to achieve excellence consistently.

How you will utilize your experience…

• Management of the entire sustain implementation cycle including requirements analysis, high level and detailed design updates, implementation, testing, integration, documentation, compliance certification and introduction to production

• Execute on Strategic initiatives and drive advanced technology initiatives to develop next generation sensors and sensing platforms

• Collaborate with cross functional teams to develop excellent solutions for our global customers

• Work with a cross functional team that includes manufacturing, supply chain, quality, logistics, engineering teams, product and program management and other groups, as needed

• Management of staffing allocations against defined engineering resource demands

• Conduct one-on-ones and performance reviews and assist with career pathing and goal setting

• Meet functional requirements of staffing, training, talent development, engagement, retention, and overall management of engineering department

• Advance technologies as appropriate to ensure tools, processes, and staff are competitive and applicable to Systems COE

• Lead a team of experienced mechanical engineers, electronic & electrical engineers, computer science engineers and technical architects to develop new products and next generation systems and solutions for Utilities and industrial customers

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a Science or Engineering related field (Electrical/ Electronics Preferred)

• 10+ years of Product development or sustain experience

• Clear understanding of production development and driving new technology initiatives in product development
