Sensus Xylem Inc. seeks to hire a highly motivated Manufacturing Test Technician that will support Supply Chain Manufacturing Test Engineering. The successful candidate will embrace a team-oriented test-driven environment and will bring experience solutions to the Team. This position provides controls that meet utility and industry requirements as well as internal requirements for cost effectiveness, accuracy, functionality, performance, and reliability. Manufacturing Test Engineering provides fully Automated Test Systems to the Contract Electronic Manufacturing Sites for Sensus Propriety Products to ensure all Product Specifications are met.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
The Manufacturing Test Technician will:
Assist in the development of Hardware for new equipment and sustaining equipment.
Wiring and Assembling test Stations to be deployed to CEM location to meet NPI/Sustaining Schedules.
Cable Assembly – soldering wires and making the cables for the Test Stations.
Assist in SW tools setup and configuration for test equipment.
Assist in debug and validation process of test equipment using standard SW tools.
Implement and maintain procedures for test equipment sustainability.
Assist in monitoring and application of sustainability activities for test equipment (calibration, maintenance, etc.).
Assist in the inventory/asset control process.
Prepare and study technical drawings and specifications of electrical systems to ensure that concept, design, development, installations, and operations conform to standards.
Assist in the purchase of materials and production equipment.
Obtain quotes on costs of new electronic hardware.
Verify initial products and identify manufacturability, testability, design, and process deficiencies.
Collaborate with continuous refinement and improvement of hardware, methods, and metrics to reduce product cost and increase test performance and outgoing quality levels.
Perform MSA (Measurement System Analysis) on the Final Test Stations – GRR Validation.
Identify, analyze, and initiate corrective action when product design failures are uncovered by the test process.
Support the Engineers on day-to-day activity.
Identify/Implement cost savings opportunities.
Analyze and quantify data to resolve process, test, and operational issues.
Participate in Xylem’s Watermark activities.
Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:
Associate degree in engineering technology or equivalent
5+ years of Manufacturing Product or Test experience with at least 2 years products for high volume production.
High volume product test experience is highly desired.
High volume SMT and product manufacturing experience is highly desired.
Strong knowledge of electronic theory, structured hardware fundamentals
Strong analytical, technical, problem-solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of RF, analog and digital circuitry
Experienced in and strong believer in, test automation.
Must have ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Self-motivated; able to demonstrate initiative and operate independently.
Desire and ability to learn new tools, languages, and design techniques.
Ability to evaluate and make recommendations on cost control, reliability and manufacturability issues and maintains aggressive development schedules.
Understanding of Electrical Engineering principals is desired
