Honeywell Sr Export Compliance Officer in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico

As a Senior Export Compliance Officer here at Honeywell, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our company operates within the boundaries of export laws and regulations. You will be accountable for developing and implementing export compliance policies, procedures, and strategies to ensure that our business units comply with all applicable export laws, regulations, and international trade controls. You will be working with the functions and businesses to ensure export compliance requirements are published in and adopted by business and/or functional processes. You will communicate procedural changes via email, through training, and other communication vehicles. You will support the Export Compliance investigations team in investigating and resolving compliance problems, questions, or complaints.

You will report directly to our Sr Export Compliance Manager, and you’ll work out of our Aguadilla, Puerto Rico location. Your expertise and knowledge will be crucial in minimizing risk and cost to the corporation while maintaining alignment with export standards. You will be performing or supporting export related audits including facilitation of data gathering requests. You will collaborate with other members of the overall Licensing organization on best practices and metrics/internal reporting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Draft, prepare and review high volume of export license applications

  • Manage OCR-EASE recordkeeping requirements for complex export authorizations

  • Conducts reviews of export applications

  • Release orders against approved export licenses

  • Develop, edit, communicate procedures and related forms

  • Assist with training and training development

  • Provide guidance on export regulations

  • Maintain record keeping

  • Compliance resolution

  • Communicate clearly with business and functional personnel on export-related matters

US PERSON REQUIREMENT

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have asylum or refugee status in the U.S.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • 5+ years of experience in export compliance

  • 5+ years of experience with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR)

  • 2+ years of experience with SAP/GTS or other ERP systems and related export compliance modules

  • Ability to read, write and speak English

  • Six Sigma and process improvement knowledge

  • Experience in drafting procedures, forms, reports, contracts, agreements, licenses, or presentations

  • Proactive, well-organized, highly motivated

  • Ability to work independently once tasks are assigned

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills a plus

  • Experience working in a compliance-related role, especially one involving export compliance

  • Experience with MS Office

  • Experience with developing or using digital tools

  • Master’s degree or juris doctorate a plus

THE BUSINESS UNIT

The Corporate Strategic Business Group (CORP SBG) at Honeywell is a division focused on corporate-level functions and initiatives that facilitate the overall operations and strategy of the company.
