This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment.

What YOU will do:

• Guide and direct the preparation of new or revised designs and working plans to improve software for products and commercial software.

• Provide technical leadership and assist in training less experienced engineers to help them diagnose and solve problems and to build capabilities.

• Perform software engineering technical work.

• Coordinate with other organizations affected by product and commercial software design development to exchange information, ideas, and techniques for design of software in products or processes.

• Communicate with the other engineering personnel to coordinate the interrelated design and ensure project completion.

• Confer with engineering staff and consult on specifications to evaluate interface for product and commercial software and ensure operational and performance requirements of overall system are met.

• Use highly developed technical knowledge and project management skills for project planning budget management, and methodology development to ensure that projects are completed on-time, within budget and according to defined goals.

• Coordinate the preparation of business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets, and the financial terms and conditions of contracts to ensure that progress and performance can be tracked.

• Direct recruitment, placement, and evaluation of engineering project staff and their work products to ensure the effective deployment of talent.

• Oversee the functional management of direct reports including but not limited to career development and succession planning to meet the organization’s needs.

Qualifications you must have:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 6 years of relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.

• Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).

• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

• Experience in managing programs or parts of a program including successfully managing small group of engineers under technical guidance.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• BS and/or MS in Software/Computer Engineering.

• Experience in creating career development programs to ensure skills and performance of employees meet the organization’s current and future needs.

• Previous experience working in the aerospace industry with working knowledge of industry standards and software development.

• Strong knowledge and experience in Verification and Validation (V&V) programs

• Experience working with projects and teams within a highly matrixed organization.

• Experience in the following:

• DO-178 B/C and/or MIL-STD-1553

• C++ and object-oriented programming languages

• Software Lifecycle
