A Typical Day
The Lead AWS Security Engineer will act as the process owner for all ongoing activities that serve to provide appropriate access to and protect the confidentiality and integrity of customer, employee, and business information in compliance with organization policies and standards. As the Lead AWS Security Engineer , you will develop, implement, and manage the overall enterprise process for information security strategy and associated architecture and engineering standards.
The Lead AWS Security Engineer will:
Strategic Technology Leadership: Plan, evaluate, and oversee the delivery of secure technology solutions across AWS cloud, DevOps, cyber, and web applications.
Enterprise Security Architecture: Lead architecture initiatives to integrate information security technology into the enterprise architecture framework, evaluating strategies, standards, and conducting risk analysis.
Threat Modeling & Mitigation: Proactively perform threat modeling of complex systems, identifying vulnerabilities and developing mitigations to reduce risk.
Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of multi-year cybersecurity strategies, providing technical implementation guidance and thought leadership for critical initiatives.
AWS Cloud Security: Design and engineer cloud posture security management platforms to protect cloud resources (VMs, serverless) and proactively address misconfigurations.
DevSecOps Integration: Support the engineering of security solutions within DevOps environments (CI/CD, SAST, DAST, Containers, IaC, etc.).
Automation Focus: Engineer cybersecurity systems to automate incident response playbooks and cybersecurity monitoring processes.
Emerging Threat Defense: Analyze and design security controls to proactively address evolving security threats.
Networking Fundamentals: Possess a solid understanding of networking concepts and common communication protocols.
What You’ll Bring
Education: Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Security) or equivalent work experience.
Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in information security or related technology domains.
Risk-Based Approach: Ability to assess and mitigate security risks, balancing technical solutions with business needs.
Scripting Proficiency: Functional knowledge of at least one scripting language (Python or PowerShell preferred).
AWS Expertise: Proven experience with AWS architecture, engineering, and security technologies.
Cloud Security Focus: Deep understanding of AWS IaaS/PaaS, secure configuration management for Linux, Windows Server, Windows Desktop, VMware, and macOS.
Web Security: Experience integrating and operating web application firewalls (WAFs) or content delivery networks (CDNs).
Security Analytics: Strong foundation in security data science and analytics.
Database Knowledge: Experience with SQL.
Secrets Management:Understanding of secrets management technologies (ideally AWS Secrets Manager and/or CyberArk).
SDLC Integration: Proven track record of architecting, engineering, and deploying security solutions across all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)

Compensation: Individual salary may vary based on multiple factors including specific role, geographic location / market data, and skills and experience as defined below:
Lower in range - Building skills and experience in the role
Mid-range - Experience and skills align with proficiency in the role
Higher in range - Experience and skills add value above typical requirements of the role
Some roles may be eligible for performance-based compensation and/or stock-based incentives awarded to employees based on company and individual performance.
