Job Title: Wastewater Operator

Job Description

As a Wastewater Operator, you will be responsible for maintaining all paint and pretreat tanks at proper pH levels and making necessary chemical adjustments. You will perform maintenance on various pumps and piping, troubleshoot and adjust chemical feeds, and ensure the wastewater treatment plant operates efficiently. Your role includes recording data, emptying and restarting sludge and iron presses, performing batch treatments, and managing paint and WT drums.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all paint tanks at proper pH levels.

  • Maintain all pretreat tanks involving pH or chemical adjustments, making acid additions.

  • Perform maintenance on pumps, metering pumps, and replace PVC piping as needed.

  • Conduct maintenance around the entire wastewater treatment plant.

  • Empty and restart sludge press and iron press.

  • Perform batch treatments.

  • Troubleshoot and adjust chemical feeds to clarifier to ensure proper flow.

  • Record all data using Excel and Word as needed.

  • Change out all paint drums as necessary.

  • Stagger all water treatment and paint drums as they arrive.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in wastewater treatment and water treatment operations.

  • Operations maintenance and repair skills.

  • Licensed Journeyman with at least a Grade 2 license (or sitting for Grade 2 within 3-4 months).

  • Proficiency in chemical testing, safety, and handling.

  • Excel data entry skills.

  • Experience with PVC pipe maintenance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Massachusetts Grade 2 Industrial Wastewater Operator Certification (required), Grade 3I preferred.

  • Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot manufacturing equipment both electrically and mechanically.

  • Capable of overcoming obstacles and completing assignments in a timely manner.

  • Strong working knowledge of industrial controls and instrumentation preferred.

  • Team-oriented approach with a desire to work in a hands-on capacity.

  • Positive attitude, good judgment, and excellent time management skills.

  • Strong sense of responsibility and ownership.

  • Physical ability to perform tasks involving walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, handling objects, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

This is a loud environment with machines constantly running, resulting in a dirtier setting. The position requires working third shift hours: Sunday-Thursday, 11 pm to 7:30 am.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $71760.00 - $81328.00
