General Atomics and Affiliated Companies Engine Shop Technician in Adelanto, California

We have an exciting opportunity for an Engine Shop Technician to support our Engine Shop in Adelanto, California.

Under general supervision with detailed instructions and intermittent review:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follows established procedures, assembly documentation, work instructions, methods and sequence of operation in performing assembly tasks such as hoses, component and fittings installation, engine sub-assemblies, and engine builds.

  • May monitor and verify quality in accordance with control procedures.

  • Performs tasks in preparation for mechanical assembly, or assembly and packaging operations. Responsibilities include hose assembly, engine assemblies, testing, repair and performs and/or assists with fabrication, assemblies with limited supervision from Lead or Supervisor..

  • Must possess a strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

  • Must be deadline sensitive and able to work effectively in a team setting and work any shift.

  • Must have strong skills using conventional hand tools, Calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, and measurement devices.

  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and engineering specifications.

  • Performs testing of hoses and small components assemblies.

  • Will be required to perform routine shop duties as required by the shop supervisor, Clean as you go work environment.

  • Must be able to read and comprehend Stationized Work Instructions, etc.

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and be able to lift up to 50lbs

  • Must have some knowledge of office computer operating systems

  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating practices and procedures.

  • Must work extended hours when required. Other duties as assigned or requested.

Job Qualifications:

  • Typically requires associate's degree or equivalent with two or more years of experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.

  • Automotive or aircraft painting experience preferred.

  • Must be able to wear PPE daily while performing tasks.

  • Must be able to work with common hand tools.

  • Must be able to perform a variety of routine tasks and demonstrate a good working knowledge of laboratory equipment and procedures.

  • Ability and willingness to work on systems which have unusual conditions such as high pressure, high voltage, high energy, cryogens, or radioactive materials.

  • Knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the field required.
