Under broad supervision, you will reconcile and adjust general ledger accounts and/or bank statements. You may also perform moderately complex analyses of performance results. In addition, you will compile, consolidate, and analyze accounting and finance information for financial statements and reports and perform other special projects as assigned.

How you will contribute

You will:

  • Support accounting and external reporting activities including accurate and timely U.S. GAAP reporting and timeliness and integrity of statutory financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, KPIs, fixed assets, restructuring and intercompany charges. As required, you will support activities performed by Mondelēz International Business Services/third-party service providers during month/quarter /year-end close, statistical reporting and statutory audit

  • Contribute to strong controls and compliance environment and comply with Mondelēz International’s AER policies. Support audit activities and provide information on auditors' request

  • Perform moderately complex analysis of performance results as requested

  • TECHNICAL EXPERTISE in accounting and external reporting including understanding U.S. GAAP, IFRS or local GAAP, close processes and financial reporting systems (SAP experience preferred). Knowledge in policy, controls and compliance design including SOX reporting

  • BUSINESS ACUMEN and experience working in FMCG/CPG Industry or Big Four accounting preferred

  • LEADERSHIP SKILLS including proven business partnering and communication skills. Experience working as a finance leader managing cross-functional and business partner teams to drive timely and accurate results

Scope of Role

Working with the regional finance, Cocoa Life and commodity price risk management (CPRM) teams you will be responsible for local finance and facility topics in the Ghana branch of Kraft Foods Schweiz Holding GmbH (KFSH) based in Accra, Ghana.

You will ensure that all financial, legal and tax obligations are fulfilled for the local entity as well as supporting the relevant internal and external stakeholders (e.g., CPRM, Cocoa Life, Research and Development (R&D), government and tax authorities).

Purpose

  • The Accounting & Facilities Manager, Ghana is responsible for financial, regulatory and compliance matters for the KFSH Ghana branch which encompasses activity for both CPRM, Cocoa Life and R&D.

  • The finance manager supports the operation for the trekking teams both in Ghana and Ivory Coast ensuring that the teams have correct equipment and the vehicles are properly maintained.

  • The role involves working with the external payroll company which pays the salaries of the Ghanaian staff, both internal and contractual.

  • In addition to this the finance manager will oversee the Cocoa Life relationship for which KFSH acts as registered office and therefore supports from a people, finance and compliance perspective.

How you will contribute

  • You will lead the financial reporting each month as well as supporting the preparation of the statutory financial statement and tax returns for the Ghana branch.

  • You will lead the annual financial planning for the CPRM team in West Africa and report back quarterly on any variations to the management in Switzerland.

  • You will provide business partnering to CPRM, Cocoa Life and R&D as required on financial and facility related matters.

  • You will act as a point of contact to external parties such as government authorities, landlords, payroll and other business suppliers.

Job Description

  • Accounting and External Reporting

  • Local finance lead for CPRM in West Africa and Cocoa Life in Ghana.

  • Ensure financials are in accordance with applicable standards and regulations.

  • Support preparation and approval of statutory financial statements in Ghana.

  • Coordinate and assist with external and internal audits in a timely fashion.

  • Supervise the financial analyst with accounting and compliance activities.

  • Prepare accruals and fixed assets schedules in support of monthly reporting.

  • Create and update records for personnel, financial and other data.

  • Liaise with the lease accounting team regarding the properties in Accra.

  • Oversee internal compliance policies for KFSH, Cocoa Life and R&D in Ghana.

  • Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Identify areas for cost reduction for the CPRM operation in West Africa.

  • Prepare and present the annual budget and updates for the Ghana branch.

  • Lead projects and assignments for CPRM, Cocoa Life and R&D as appropriate.

  • Treasury and Accounts Payable

  • Ensure receipt of monthly funds for the various KFSH operations in Ghana.

  • Liaise with the local banking provider on all banking related matters.

  • Approval of all payments going out from the KFSH Ghana bank account.

  • Manage all banking activity in accordance with company policy.

  • Tax, Legal and Corporate & Governmental Affairs

  • Legal signatory for Kraft Foods Schweiz Holding GmbH (Ghana branch).

  • Ensure timely submission / payment for tax returns with Revenue Authority.

  • Liaising with government authorities on business registration and renewals.

  • Report preparation and submission to government / other interested parties.

  • Liaison with external legal counsel in relation to any legal matters for KFSH in Ghana.

  • People and Payroll

  • Acting as the deputy to the CPRM lead in West Africa.

  • Directly responsible for 4 facility employees and indirectly for 1 in finance.

  • Point of contact on employment contracts, payroll and other people matters.

  • Support staff/visitors on immigration/registration/residence/work permits.

  • Coordinate office activities and ensure compliance to company policy.

Facility Management

  • Purchase of fixed assets for CPRM in West Africa and Cocoa Life in Ghana.

  • Responsible for lease renewal and maintenance on the 2 properties in Accra.

  • Work with vehicle maintenance provider to ensure vehicles are maintained.

  • Ensure field staff members are equipped and prepared for field work.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Financial Management Accounting or Certified accounting qualification.

  • At least 6 years management and financial accounting experience.

  • Experience in NGO/Agricultural Programs would be advantageous

  • Experience with working with local tax authorities and external auditors.

  • People management experience to lead a local team and support field technicians.

  • Excellent analytical skills and proficient user of SAP and Microsoft Office packages.

  • Strong end to end business knowledge with a particular emphasis on compliance.

  • Previous experience of working in the cocoa industry with farmers and suppliers.
