JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Pennsylvania State University Abington Campus is searching for up to five ( 5 ) part-time STEM Academy Module Development Assistants for a math and science based high school program . The Assistants will be responsible for developing out-of-school module content in STEM fields (Engineering, Math, Physics, IST, Computer Science) . Project activities will occur between March 15 , 202 4 and December 31 , 202 4 , with opportunities to extend project participation into later semesters . Module Development Assistants will generally work between 8- 1 2 hours per week . Hourly wages for this opening are based on experience with a minimum of $ 1 8 /hour with long-term participation in the project potentially being at a higher rate and/ or for add itional hours .

Job Duties

  • Work collaboratively to d evelop STEM based instruction, activities , and labs for high school students.

  • Create and revise written instructions and supporting materials for all STEM activities.

  • Provide weekly updates, reports, and materials to STEM Faculty Coordinator.

  • C ommunicate regularly with fellow STEM team members and Faculty Coordinator to ensure proper content and problem solving.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • T imely completion of job responsibilities and taking initiative to resolve problems.

  • P roficiency with in at least one STEM area of interest ( Engineering, Math, Physics, IST, Computer Science ) or Education ( 5 th semester students or high er preferred).

  • A bility to understand instructions and work independently as well as collaboratively on tasks.

  • Employment with the University for this job will require successful completion of the Pennsylvania (PA) Publicly Available Clearances: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and the FBI Criminal History Background Check.
