JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Survey Research Center (http://survey.psu.edu/) , part of the Social Science Research Institute within Penn State University will be collecting data in the neighborhoods around Bartram’s Gardens and hiring a resident to supervise interviewers conducting door-to-door surveys this fall. The surveys will give residents a chance to share their experiences and priorities about facilities, programs, and civic engagement.

Wages starting at $20 an hour!

Candidates must be at least 18 years old and available to attend mandatory in-person training at a site near Bartram’s Gardens in November/December 2022.

Successful candidates should:

  • Also live near Bartram’s Gardens

  • Available to work 10 to 15 hours per week (mostly afternoon, evening, and weekend hours) when work is available

  • Able to organize and supervise field interviewers to collect data door-to-door

  • Available to answer questions from field interviewers and address issues as they arise

  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the position with reasonable accommodations (ability to lift and carry 10 - 15 pounds of equipment and materials, walk two blocks, climb a flight of stairs while carrying equipment)

  • Have regular and reliable access to cellular telephone service

Candidates will need to be able to work independently, have strong reading and verbal skills, the ability to communicate with people from all walks of life and socio-economic groups, and basic computer skills (be able to access and browse the Internet, use the keyboard, send/receive email).

As part of the job, candidates will have to:

Establish and maintain good rapport with interviewers and the research team

  • Keep detailed records of all work activities; complete administrative tasks on time and accurately

  • Assist field interviewers with technology issues

  • Available to fill in for interviewers if necessary.

Any offer of employment may be contingent upon receipt of acceptable results from a Pennsylvania Clearance Package (PA State Police Criminal History, PA Child Abuse History, FBI Fingerprints through DHS).
