JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Division of Student Affairs at Penn State Abington seeks a dynamic and energetic individual to join our team. The Coordinator of Student Involvement – Community Service works under the leadership of the Director of Student Affairs to ensure students have opportunities to develop leadership skills, participate in leadership training and have opportunities to engage in student organizations that foster community.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and facilitate community service opportunities for students . A dvise student organizations on programs, trips and experiences that engage the local and broader community in raising awareness an d acting on issues and events of concern to students. Provide opportunities for off campus experiences (day trips or Alternate Spring Break) . Work with civic minded student organizations to promote volunteerism and activism in the local/global community . EX: Volunteer Expo, Day ON ( of service), Alternative Spring Break, etc.

  • As a member of the student involvement team, e nsure that all student organizations understand purchasing and event planning policies and procedures.

  • Advise and support student organizations on event planning, room reservation, catering and advertising.

  • Meet regularly with student leaders to provide support, coaching and guidance on how to create inclusive student programming. Manage student group issues. Refer students to campus resources when needed and consult with supervisor when implemented resolutions are not effective.

  • Develop and implement assessment and evaluation procedures for student community service and action events . Analyze data and report to the Associate Director to help develop strategies, programs and initiatives or policy changes to address challenges and student issues related to student engagement and climate.

    Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree and 3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must have a valid PA driver’s license.

  • Occasional nights, weekends and overnight travel required.

    This position requires successful completion of the following three publicly available clearances:

  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check

  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance

  • Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Background Check

    Successful candidates are self-starters, are able to work autonomously and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Candidates have strong project management skills, a commitment to customer service and experience in event planning. Candidates have an understanding of student development theory, experience serving underrepresented and/or first-generation students a plus.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$46,400.00 - $67,300.00
