Chartwells, a leader in innovative foodservice management, is excited to offer an opportunity to join our team as an Executive Chef at Abilene Christian University in Abilene, TX.

As the Executive Chef, you will support culinary operations for our onsite catering department. In this role you will have the unique opportunity to design and execute culinary experiences for a range of events-from casual drop-offs to elegant galas. Our Executive Chef will also support culinary operations for a high-volume residential dining hall on campus, crafting exceptional dining experiences for students, staff, and visitors. Key Responsibilities:

Client Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external clients to manage the entire catering process from start to finish.

Culinary Excellence: Set and uphold culinary standards, ensuring compliance with recipes, food quality, and presentation standards that exceed expectations.

Menu Innovation: Develop and implement unique, cuisine-appropriate menus that delight our clients.

Financial Acumen: Collaborate on menu pricing and identify opportunities to increase revenue and control costs.

Team Development: Hire, train, and mentor kitchen staff in food preparation, safety, and sanitation.

Inventory Management: Maintain inventory within guidelines while ensuring availability of necessary products.

Compliance: Adhere to all health and sanitation regulations and company procedures.

Hands-On Leadership: Prepare meals and provide meal prep support as needed.

Adaptable Support: Embrace flexibility and adaptability, taking on additional duties as needed to ensure the success of our culinary operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A.S. or equivalent experience

  • Three to five years of progressive culinary/kitchen management experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation

  • Experienced with computers; to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point), Outlook, E-mail and the Internet

  • Extensive catering experience a plus

  • High volume, complex foodservice operations experience - highly desirable

  • ServSafe certified - highly desirable
