HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES COMMISSION Clerk I Supply Clerk in ABILENE, Texas

Job/Position DescriptionClerk IThe Supply Clerk work is in Central Supply (Medical) and complies a list of items and amounts that are needed to maintain an adequate supply quota. The supply clerk then enters these orders into an automated system (MIMS) following the delivery schedule. Once supplies have been delivered, the supply clerk is responsible for stocking, organizing, and maintaining all supply rooms, ensuring older items are pulled forward so that no supplies expire. This is a physically demanding position that will require the ability to lift, carry, and move boxes and packages not to exceed 44 pounds on a routine basis.The supply clerk will be assigned a State Procurement card and will be responsible for making spot purchases as needed and delivering these purchases in a timely fashion. Will be responsible for following all required State policies and regulations regarding the use of the procurement card.Must be a self-starter and a quick learner. Must also be able to respond to all emails, voicemails, and phone calls maintaining good customer relation skills.Will be required to have a valid drivers license with a good driving record. Will be required to take an onsite Defensive Driving Course as well as an additional course for driving a large van. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Essential Job FunctionsAttends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.The Unit Supply Clerk's essential function is to monitor consumables and other supplies that are used in the SSLC environment, and ensure that replacement items are ordered, received, and distributed as needed.Makes ad hock purchases with the State Procurement card on a routine basis.Tracks all job-related activities and documents supply related transactions. Files and maintains supplies, forms, records, and reports. Performs data entry and retrieval. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agencyand#146;s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.Registrations, Licensure Requirements or CertificationsValid drivers license required with good driving history is preferred. Knowledge Skills AbilitiesKnowledge of office procedures; of spelling, punctuation, grammar, and arithmetic; and of business or program terminology, methods, and procedures.Skill in using MS Office applications and office equipment.Ability to perform the physical functions related to this position which include routinely lifting items and packages that are up to 44 lbs.Ability to prepare and maintain records, files, and reports; to transfer stock from one location to another; and to communicate effectively. Initial Screening Criteria1. One year of documented clerical or administrative work experience preferred.2. One year of documented work experience using MS Office applications, in particular Outlook,Word and Excel preferred3. High School graduate or equivalent4.
