TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES ASSISTANT CRIMINAL DISTRICT ATTORNEY - MISDEMEANOR in Abilene, Texas
Summary Taylor County Criminal District Attorney, Mr. James Hicks, is seeking a qualified prosecutor to fill a misdemeanor position. This job requires knowledge of all phases of criminal prosecution and law enforcement procedures, has daily contact with the public, law enforcement and is responsible for handling misdemeanor cases from intake through trial in County Courts at Law and Justice of Peace Courts in Taylor County.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- All aspects of prosecution of misdemeanor offenses, including case screening, preparation of pleadings, motions, affidavits, probable cause statements, witness preparation, and representation of the State of Texas in pretrial proceedings, criminal bench trials, and jury trials.
- Formulates, justifies, and communicates plea offers in misdemeanor cases
- Performs legal research and writing
- Advises law enforcement agencies and officers of criminal law and criminal procedures
- Other duties as assigned by the Criminal District Attorney
Education and Experience
- Graduation from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas
