Our Abercynon facility is located in the beautiful South Wales Valleys. As part of the Power Solutions division featuring the AB Connectors brand, we are a recognised market leader in the design and manufacture of connectors and electrical harness systems used in harsh environments for aerospace and defence, transportation and industrial industries. We employ 130 people and with over 50 years of history play a vital part in the Abercynon community.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Machine Shop Manager to join our team in Abercynon. You will be a key member of the site management team and be responsible for managing and maintaining the effective and efficient operation of the Machine Shop.
Key Tasks will include:
Management of labour and resource to meet plan.
Ensuring targets, quality levels, special checks, PPE and any health and safety matters are communicated and adhered to
Ensure all completed material is tested to relevant specifications, packaged to agreed standard, complies with quality standard and is moved promptly to the next process phase.
Managing the maintenance team to ensure effective TPM activities ensuring a proactive approach to machine maintenance and fault finding.
Maintain budgetary control within your areas of responsibility and deal with parts and equipment suppliers.
Control of holidays and absenteeism to ensure that the area can manufacture effectively at all times, including management of time and attendance system
Effective measurements of performance, scrap, downtime, quality, delivery, H&S, maintenance, housekeeping
Act as the CI champion for the area and generate the team’s drive for improvement.
The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas:
Machine setting with an ability to programme CNC machines
You will be an effective communicator who has the ability to engage teams and drive improvement and change.
