Description:

Immediate opening for Dental Hygienist! Will be responsible for providing oral prophylactic services (cleanings, exams, scaling, polishing, fluoride treatment, and sealants) and education to improve and maintain oral health. The hygienist will see patients of all ages. He/she will provide direct care services at the main dental practice, South End Community Health Center on Washington street, 20 Maverick square and satellite locations. The position requires flexible hours . HS Diploma/GED required. Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene School. Recent graduate Dental Hygienists encouraged to apply! This position is a full-time role. Valid driver’s license.English/Spanish bilingual preferred. Boston residents preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare patient for dental hygiene procedure by welcoming them, making them feel at ease and answering their questions

  • Perform all necessary prophylactic services within the scope of duty: cleaning, root planning and scaling, polishing, fluoride treatment and apply sealants.

  • Expose and develop radiographic studies

  • Educate patients by giving oral hygiene instructions

  • Prepare treatment operatory for patient by adhering to prescribed infection control, equipment maintenance, and sterilization procedures and protocols

  • Selects materials and equipment for dental hygiene visit by evaluating patient’s oral health

  • In a timely manner accurately and consistently document all patient encounters and information in Dentrix and Epic, as appropriate

  • Provide communication and participate in health fairs and outreach events

  • Travel to and from EBNHC and community locations, transport equipment and materials as needed and appropriate

  • Update and maintain program materials and forms

  • Assist with various administrative functions in support of department operations and funding requirements

  • Respect and maintain patient confidentiality by complying with EBNHC privacy policies and protocols

  • Demonstrate excellent customer services to internal and external customers by behaving in a professional manner, displaying a positive attitude and willingness to help as needed.

  • Maintain excellent punctuality and attendance.

  • Promote a sense of “team work” through demonstration of self-

  • direction and self-motivation. Solve problems independently or knows when to seek consultation.

  • Displays outstanding customer service skills when interacting with all EBNHC customers according to the ACE model

  • Adheres to all EBNHC and departmental policies and procedures

  • Participate in required departmental activities and meetings

EDUCATION:

  • Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene School

  • Licensed as a dental hygienist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

  • Licensed to administer local anesthesia ( Permit L)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Equivalent of one year of full-time clinical experience

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • English/Spanish bilingual preferred

Requirement:

  • Valid driver’s license
